iSeries

Innovative scanning platform for chairside applications

The iSeries scanning solution is specifically designed to digitize silicone or alginate-based impressions for prosthetic and orthodontic applications. Chairside impression scanning enables dentists and labs to collaborate and communicate on a common electronic platform. Dental Wings’s impression scanning solution represents the natural step for dentists to enter into the digital era at their own pace. The iSeries is fully integrated with the DHS and DDXTM data management platforms. Both provide efficient and secure communication between the dental office and laboratory of choice.

Optimized scanning technology

The scanning technology of the iSeries was optimized to address the various constraints encountered when scanning impressions, including cases with deep narrow pockets that are frequently found with lower anteriors. The scanner has two on-board sophisticated measuring cameras placed at complementary angles. Its five axes movement allows the scanner to orient the impression with respect to the optical head for optimum scanning accessibility. In addition, a live video camera enables the user to position each preparation scan so that the margin can be easily found.

Benefits

Provides a proactive approach:

The iSeries enables dentists to play an active role in relation to the information being sent to the dental lab. This enables the clinic to catch and correct any uncertainties while the patient is readily available.

Preserves clinical information:

While sub-gingival information is very difficult to obtain with intra-oral scanners, it is easily obtained by digitizing impressions.

Improves accuracy:

Scanning at the clinic minimizes the potential of alterations of impressions during shipping.

Economical and ecological:

The costs associated with the shipping of dental impressions are eliminated when the impression information is sent digitally.

Reduces turnaround time:

By eliminating the shipping of impressions, the turnaround time is reduced by at least 24 hours. Furthermore, laboratories can start their design process while the model is being manufactured.

DDXTM is Henry Schein’s open, web-based platform and powers digital communication between dental practices, dental laboratories and third parties.

Streamlined workflow

  1. Patient prescription is registered in the dental clinic’s practice management software.
  2. In-clinic impression scanning, using the iSeries, is performed immediately after impression taking. Ideally, scannable impression material is used, eliminating the need for spraying powder during the scanning process.
  3. Digital transfer of scan files to the selected lab using DHS or DDXTM.
  4. Lab can simultaneously generate an articulated digital model using the DWOS Virtual Model Builder and send to production while the DWOS Crown & Bridge module generates the prosthetic design, which means faster turnaround time.
  5. Dental prosthesis and digital models are sent to the dentist for final adjustment and seating.
